BOARD OF DIRECTORS MYRNA LOY CENTER September 8, 2003 MINUTES The Board of Directors of the Myrna Loy Center met September 8, 2003. President Melinda White called the meeting to order. Board members present: Melinda White, Martin Holt, Cindy Gaffney, Lori Hood, Ali Bovingdon, Arlene Parisot, Paul Edwards, and Amy Budke, Randall Green, Bob Shepard and Annie Hull Non-Board members present: Executive Director Ed Noonan Approval of Minutes Minutes from the last meeting were not available for the meeting. Executive Director's Report Ed Noonan reported. The bad art action was fun and profitable. Geyser Land was a lot of work but successful in many ways. The event got good press all over the state and throughout the country including a very nice article in the NY Times. Other national press coverage included articles in the Chamber Music America, Arts Presenters, and the Kennedy Center. New season information is out and the final listing is strong. Season Tickets are on sale and 11 of 40 available are already sold. Passport tickets will now only be sold to members. The platter projection system burnt out but was replaced in a short timeframe for $3,300 without impact to the operation. Executive Committee President Melinda White reviewed the list of committees and encouraged board members to sign up to support at least one committee. Finance Committee Ed Noonan reported for the Finance Committee and provided an update on the budget process. He noted that the unexpected purchase of the platter projection system will impact the budget for the next several months. Paul Edwards made a motion to establish a checking account for the restricted funds, which would be used to pay for expenses associated with those funds. Discussion followed and the motion was tabled. Ed and Melinda will discuss the issue with Terri Drake to confirm the need. Fundraising Committee A Home Tour is scheduled for October 25 from 4 – 7. Tickets are $25.00 and include wine and cheese at each of the homes. Board members are encouraged to sell tickets to the event. The Holiday Raffle Tickets will be available beginning November 1 for the drawing on December 21. Tickets price is $25.00 for dinner for 12 months and a Myrna Loy movie ticket for 2. The Silent Auction Pumpkin Event will take place on October 30 in conjunction with the Tears of Joy Puppet Theater event. Local artists and "famous people" have been asked to carve the pumpkins, which will be displayed throughout Helena during the month of October. Board Development Committee Melinda White reported for the committee and opened a discussion regarding the goals for board development. Ed reported that there may be grants available to be used for board development. It was agreed that it would be worthwhile for Ed to investigate further. Discussion will continue next meeting. Program and Marketing Committee Ed provided an overview of the season live performance line up. He discussed the issues and challenges of putting together a successful season. Building Committee Martin Holt reported that some minor repairs were required.
