Have you ever met a person who had such conviction in what she was doing, you felt moved? When you looked at this person, did you feel she was right where she needed to be, doing what she was supposed to be doing? Meet Candy Coburn.
If you were to ask her many fans across the Country how they would describe Candy, their response would be, “She is simply infectious.”
From the moment she hits the stage, you sense Candy is not your run-of-the-mill chick singer. Maybe it’s because she doesn’t count on her good looks to engage the crowd, but relies on her energetic delivery, true-to-life lyrics, and a show that rocks. Or perhaps it is the signature green guitars she uses for every performance. Whatever it is, it’s easy to see why Candy and her music are undeniably contagious. Candy has performed with the late George McCorkle and shared the stage with Brooks & Dunn, Blake Shelton and many more. ‘Pink Warrior’ is her latest CD.
As an Ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Candy is committed to raising awareness among her fans of the ongoing fight to end breast cancer. “Writing and recording the Susan G. Komen for the Cure anthem, ‘Pink Warrior,’ is without question the high point of my career. The song I wrote with some good Nashville friends is touching so many people, it amazes me. I have breast cancer survivors come up to me at shows and thank me for the song. I feel so blessed to be able to have a tiny part in an organization that has helped so many!”
You can listen to ‘Pink Warrior’ at www.candycoburn.com.

“Serious fun of the highest order.” – The Capitol JournalThe hottest new classical band in NYC. Bridging the gap between contemporary classical and the mainstream popular audience. The aptly named Fireworks Ensemble--an adventurous, young octet—puts classical music in a fresh light playing with high-energy using electric guitar, electric bass, saxophone and piano. The classically trained Fireworks players say they’re out to “redefine the chamber music experience for a new generation of listeners” by expanding the repertoire into new areas.

Recognized as one the great fiddlers of our time, McMasters is an electrifying performer who tunes the tradional east-coast sound of Nova Scotian music for the contemporary ear. MacMaster bounds onto a stage to play her fiddle “with reckless abandon — but it’s controlled reckless abandon,” the late John Allan Cameron, fellow Cape Breton musician, once said. Seemingly unable to stand still, leaping, dancing and vigorously combines her expertise in Cape Breton step dancing with virtuoso bowing. It’s almost impossible to stay in your seat when she’s at work.
Helena Theater Co.: "The Savannah Disputation"
November 4-6, 11-13
7:30 pm
$16
A delightfully smart new play that takes a funny look at religious debate—a theological tug-of-war where laughs win out.
Improbable as it may sound, “Disputation’’ turns a quiet home in Savannah, Georgia, of all places, into a theological battleground in which the finer points of Roman Catholic doctrine are thrashed out.
On one side are two aging sisters, curmudgeonly Mary, seemingly born with a scowl on her face, and timid, fluttering Margaret, who seems perpetually poised on the verge of flight. Mary and Margaret are lifelong Catholics, but it will turn out that their grasp on the tenets of their faith is shaky.
On the other side is Melissa, a peppy, Bible-brandishing young evangelical missionary who is determined to persuade the sisters—or at least Margaret— to renounce Catholicism and thus save their eternal souls.
All this infuriates Mary, who mobilizes a secret weapon in the person of the scholarly Father Patrick Murphy. She invites the priest to dinner to rebut Melissa’s ideas and restore Margaret’s shaken faith (and maybe Mary’s as well). Well, he does and he doesn’t. The ensuing living-room debate and theological back-and-forth shines a light on the hearts, minds, and souls of four people who are secretly grappling with doubt, fear, loneliness, and regret about paths not taken.
Faith is a complicated business—and as “Disputation’’ shows, a funny business, too.

Electrifying, literary, and sensitive storyteller … singer-songwriter Josh Ritter returns to Helena to share what’s on his mind. While Ritter’s tunes have undeniably grown more robust and lavishly arranged over the course of his six albums, he still comes off more as a homespun folk-rocker than big-band leader. Ritter's newest album “So Runs the World Away,” is being described as "breathtaking," "dazzling," "intriguing," and "ambitious."
Josh Ritter is from Moscow, Idaho. The son of two neuroscientists, he was on his way to follow in their footsteps when he discovered Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan’s “Girl from the North Country” in high school. “Hearing that record was like meeting the person you’re going to marry,” Josh says.
Ritter was named “One of the 100 Greatest Living Songwriters” by Paste Magazine, alongside Dylan, Springsteen, and Neil Young. He has released 6 albums and has made memorable appearances on David Letterman twice, and his most recent record, His albumw have earned critical acclaim worldwide, and his constant touring has made him a star both in the US and overseas, where he plays to large audiences.
